The dry-salt room, a European mainstay beloved for its lung- and skin-clearing benefits, finally arrived in New York in May, occupying a nail-salon-like room within the Oasis Day Spa ($40 per session). Sink into one of six recliners for 45 minutes, as a halogenerator pumps out undetectable microparticles of salt air (a process that’s believed to improve breathing, sleep, and stress levels) and your sock-covered feet sink into a bed of pink Himalayan rock salt (it releases the same mood-balancing negative ions you take in on a trip to Bermuda). A more intense but equally lunch-break-friendly option is the coffinlike salt chamber, which can involve clothing removal but takes just 20 minutes.
