Obama: If Trump Can't Be Trusted With Twitter, He Can't Be Trusted With Nuclear Codes

President Obama mocked Donald Trump at a rally Monday, arguing that Americans could not trust the GOP nominee with nuclear capability if his aides could not expect him to exercise self-control with his Twitter account.

“Over the weekend, his campaign took away his Twitter account,” Obama told a crowd at the University of Michigan. “Now, if your closet advisers don’t trust you to tweet, then how can we trust him with the nuclear codes?”

The New York Times reported on Sunday that Trump's advisers have "finally wrested away the Twitter account that he used to colorfully — and often counterproductively — savage his rivals." Surrogate Boris Epshteyn refuted the notion on Monday afternoon that Trump's seemingly preferred method of communication had been restricted, telling USA TODAY that "he’s his own man."
