In a Marist poll out yesterday, state voters were split 25 percent to 25 percent over whether they would like Andrew Cuomo or Caroline Kennedy to take over for Hillary Clinton in the Senate. Roughly the same amount of voters liked one of seven other listed candidates (any of whom frankly might have a better chance at getting picked by Governor Paterson). Democrats tended to lean toward Kennedy, and Republicans a little more strongly toward Cuomo. In general, city voters liked Kennedy and suburban and upstate voters preferred Cuomo.
So basically this poll tells us nothing. But the coverage of it does — check out the Daily News’ headline:
Poll shows dead heat between Andrew Cuomo and Caroline Kennedy for Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat
And then the Post’s:
SWEET ON CAROLINE: CLOBBERS CUOMO IN POLL
