Here is a story about health-care reform opponents harassing elected officials that really warmed our hearts. Apparently taking National Review writer Charlotte Hays’s tacit advice to accost reform supporters on airplanes, two slightly inebriated lady ophthalmologists started harassing Democratic representative Barney Frank over his support of Obama’s bill. According to the Boston Globe, mayhem ensued:
Accustomed as he is to being conservatives’s favorite bad guy, Frank mostly ignored the doctors’s taunts, Sexton said, but the congressman’s partner, Jim Ready, did not. “They wanted to talk to me, but I apologized and said I like to read and watch on planes,” Frank told us today. “They began to talk louder and that’s when Jimmy said, ‘If you’re trying to be bitchy, you’re doing a good job.”
That’s when things really started to go haywire. The women flew off the handle and flight attendants couldn’t get control of them. “The women had been drinking, and they were crying and shouting,” said a witness. “They were clearly the antagonizers, and Mr. Frank was kind of minding his own business.” Though it sounds like Barney’s boyfriend wasn’t entirely innocent either: Somehow he managed to upset another passenger by calling him “Santa Claus.”
