This morning Attorney General Eric Holder said the Pakistani Taliban was responsible for Faisal Shahzad’s failed attack on Times Square, directly contradicting General David Patreaus, who on Friday said Shahzad acted as a “lone wolf.” Holder first said on This Week that evidence now “shows the Pakistani Taliban was behind the attack.” Later, on Meet the Press, he said the Taliban in Pakistan was “intimately involved” in the plot, “directed” it, and may have also financed it. Holder also said that the Pakistani government was likely not aware of the plot. [NYT]
