In next week’s issue of People, Elizabeth Edwards and her daughter Cate Edwards, 28, a clerk for a federal judge in D.C. who has until now refused to publicly discuss her father’s scandal, talk about their strained relationship with John Edwards. Thus far, all that has leaked from the story, however, is Cate saying her mother taught her “how to continue to live your life on your own terms when it somehow becomes savaged by people you never invited into it,” in an essay she apparently wrote for the magazine. Elizabeth Edwards’s book, Resilience, comes out next week, too, with a new chapter “reflecting on the worst of the fallout from husband John’s infidelity,” and the couple’s split at the end of last year.
