Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell’s doubts about this unproven evolution thing aren’t the only weird past positions of hers turning up online today. Think Progress finds a clip of her on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, where she was a frequent guest, seemingly taking the position that the act of lying is so evil, she wouldn’t deceive Nazis about where the Jews were hiding.
CHRISTINE O’DONNELL: A lie, whether it be a lie or an exaggeration, is disrespect to whoever you’re exaggerating or lying to, because it’s not respecting reality.
BILL MAHER: Quite the opposite, it can be respect.
EDDIE IZZARD: What if someone comes to you in the middle of the Second World War and says, ‘do you have any Jewish people in your house?’ and you do have them. That would be a lie. That would be disrespectful to Hitler.
So it’s not “righteous” to save Jews from Nazis by fibbing to the Nazis? Jeez.
Also, Media Matters found a clip of her calling President Obama “anti-American,” which, sadly, isn’t that out there these days, but is still a pretty galling thing to say. Makes you wonder if the Mike Castle campaign ever even Googled her.
