Yesterday, Anthony Weiner’s 45,000 Twitter followers were treated to this surprising photo of someone’s, yes, weiner (professionally required to say it) in briefs, which Weiner’s rep today said was the work of a hacker. The tweet was directed, publicly, from Weiner’s Twitter account, to a female in the Pacific Northwest, who quickly deleted her Twitter and Facebook accounts after the incident. The woman is believed to be a journalism student in Seattle who once referred to Weiner as “her boyfriend” over Twitter. The tweet was immediately deleted, along with every photo in Weiner’s yfrog account. An anonymous writer on the right-wing website Big Government was among the first to pick up the story. “Anthony’s accounts on both Facebook and Twitter were hacked,” Weiner’s rep Dave Arnold told the New York Post today. “The photo does not belong to the Democrat and wasn’t taken by him.” Arnold says Weiner got a message about a week ago from Facebook telling him his password might have been tampered with, but the warning was ignored.
Big Government owner Andrew Breitbart tweeted at the Congressman, “we have much more,” but Weiner didn’t bite. Some right-wing bloggers are asserting that the photo might be evidence that Weiner is having an affair, according to Gawker. (Those bloggers note that, on Friday, Weiner tweeted about what time he’ll appear on Rachel Maddow, saying, “#That’s5:45inSeattleIThink.” The alleged recipient of the briefs shot also lives in Seattle.) For his part, Weiner, who is married to Huma Abedin, is cracking jokes: “Tivo shot. FB hacked. Is my blender gonna attack me next? #TheToasterIsVeryLoyal,” he tweeted last night. Then, later: “Touche Prof Moriarity. More Weiner Jokes for all my guests! #Hacked!” And later: “Thanks to all my new followers im drawing close to Bachmann. #ScrappyChasingCrazy.” And then, later: “The weiner gags never get old, I guess.”
