I, I’m so in love with you…
Speaking at a fundraiser at the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, President Obama channeled his inner Al Green and gently sung the first line of Green’s Let’s Stay Together from the lectern. And he was actually pretty good! Obama noted that Reverend Al Green had performed there before, one of soul music’s hallowed grounds. Apparently Obama’s staff didn’t think that he had the guts to do it, particularly with Al Green himself at the event. Check out O’s performance and watch Green’s own rendition at the Apollo in 1990.
