It’s Keith Olbermann week here, so let’s take this thing home: The bespectacled newsman who reportedly clashed recently with his colleagues at Current TV has, according to The Hollywood Reporter, come to terms with Current to take the helm for the network’s coverage this year. “I am pleased that I’ll be running the election coverage on Current, following this Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary,” said Olbermann in a statement on Sunday. “However, I don’t think those participating in the New Hampshire primary will share my satisfaction.”
Michele Bachmann got out of the race just in time to avoid Olbermann’s rapid rhetorical rants. Adds the Reporter:
Olbermann will have complete creative and editorial control. But it’s unclear exactly what that coverage will look like; whether Olbermann will do a special edition of Countdown with his own panel of guests or lead the network’s Politically Direct election specials, which have featured Cenk Uygur, Jennifer Granholm and network co-founder Al Gore.
So, we’ll see. To which many of you reply, “I don’t get that channel anyway.”
For those of you who do, and wish to watch Countdown, Olbermann will be back soon, but not before sparring with another New York Times reporter — this time David Carr — over the accuracy of his report concerning Olbermann.
If nothing else, this has been a nice round of free publicity for Current.
