The investigation of illegal connections between Scotland Yard and News Corp., whose British newspapers have been accused of phone hacking and widespread bribery, comes with a fabulous new tidbit today: Rebekah Brooks, one of Rupert Murdoch’s favorites, rode around for years on a police horse. Both parties involved insist it wasn’t a gift, just an old animal that retired with the former Sun and News of the World editor and her horse trainer husband at their country home. Brooks even had to prove she was a suitable rider before getting the horse and — oh, what’s that, 50 quid seems to have just fallen from the saddle.
