First introduced in November in the Bronx, Mayor Bloomberg announced on Tuesday that the program reducing speed limits from 30 to 20 miles per hour in designated “slow zones” will expand to as many as thirteen more neighborhoods, the Times reports. The city has tentatively chosen new zones based on crash history and proximity to schools, among other factors. Bloomberg has hailed the program for helping to reduce traffic fatalities, calling it “our assault on the No. 1 traffic killer — speeding.” Now, about the rampant murders plaguing the city this summer.
