Today’s print edition of The Wall Street Journal includes the premiere of a new section called simply “Mansion,” about mansions. “We all like to think of our home as a mansion, even if it is a humble abode, and we all have the license to aspire, so we have created Mansion to be the home of both aspiration and real estate realization,” managing editor Robert Thompson announced. In addition to a huge spread on Maya Angelou’s “three art-filled houses,” the front page includes a curious quote from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet that just happens to include the word … mansion. But it might be a metaphor?
“O, I have bought the mansion of a love, But not possess’d it,” the header reads. The line is spoken by Juliet in act three, scene two, as she prepares to covertly meet again with her lover, Romeo. Now, we’re no English major, but this has nothing to do with huge houses.
