Dennis Rodman and Vice Crew Having a ‘Grand Old Time’ With Ruthless Dictator

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, left, and former NBA star Dennis Rodman watch North Korean and U.S. players in an exhibition basketball game at an arena in Pyongyang, North Korea, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. Rodman arrived in Pyongyang on Monday with three members of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team to shoot an episode on North Korea for a new weekly HBO series.

Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong-un took in a basketball game on Thursday, after which Rodman told the crowd that North Korea’s dictator had a new “friend for life.” Hooray!

Rodman, a handful of Harlem Globetrotters, and a crew from Vice, who are filming the trip for an HBO series, were later invited to a lavish dinner at Kim Jong-un’s palace.”Dinner was an epic feast,” Vice’s Ryan Duffy told the AP. “Felt like about 10 courses in total. I’d say the winners were the smoked turkey and sushi, though we had the Pyongyang cold noodles earlier in the trip and that’s been the runaway favorite so far.” Yum!

Then things really got wild. “Um … so Kim Jong Un just got the crew wasted,” Vice’s Jason Mojica tweeted, “no really, that happened.” Vice founder Shane Smith said that Duffy and company had a “grand old time.” Brotastic!

Aside from the brutal slave-labor camps, the routine rape and torture of political prisoners, mass starvation extreme enough to induce episodes of cannibalism, and the complete lack of human and civil rights, North Korea sounds like a blast!
