If you had “Tea Party” or “Patriot” in the title of your political action committee in the 2012 election, the IRS was probably watching your every move. This morning, the tax-collecting force apologized for looking extra closely into the tax exempt statuses of primarily conservative-leaning groups. The focus gained attention in December, when ProPublica published the tax-exempt application submitted by Karl Rove’s group, American Crossroads GPS. Consider this another reason for conservatives to angrily shake their fists at the tax man.
