One of the mayoral candidates not named Anthony Weiner, or even Christine Quinn, was among the sixteen people arrested this morning during a protest to save Long Island College Hospital. It was Bill de Blasio, the very tall, hip “Park Slope liberal,” who currently works as public advocate. We know this because his official Twitter account blasted this photo of the candidate in plastic cuffs to its 6,395 (and rising!) followers with the message, “Taking a stand to keep community hospitals in New York City open.” Yes, it is much more admirable than a boxer-briefed erection, but no, it does not have the same viral potential. There’s got to be a better way to get noticed.
