As we’ve noted, David Petraeus is doing just fine in civilian life, teaching with CUNY and USC and working with the private equity group KKR. But on Monday, CUNY and the former CIA director announced the college wouldn’t be adding to his bankroll after all, reducing his salary from $200,000 to $1. Petraeus’s lawyer told the Times it was the general’s own idea to lower his salary, “to remove money as a point of controversy.” It’s a significant pay cut, yes, but given everything else Petraeus still has going on, he’s not going to starve.
