As Bill de Blasio kicked off his week-long attempt to live on minimum wage, on Monday Christine Quinn joined Staten Islander Yanela Tamayo for her 90-minute commute to her job at the New Yorker Hotel. (Quinn says that by 2023, no New Yorker should have to commute more than one hour in either direction.) In recent weeks, the mayoral candidates tried food-stamp diets and had a public housing sleepover, so don’t be alarmed if one of them asks to tag along on your next trip to the DMV.
