Apparently a group of mockingbirds has decided Greenpoint’s Transmitter Park is theirs now, and they are dive-bombing and pecking people who dare to tread on it. “It’s so ridiculous,” said Arthur Henry, a 44-year-old man who presumably outweighs his aggressor by hundreds of ounces. “I’m scared of a bird.” He’ll find no comfort in the New York Times’ telling of his story, as the only advice on how to deal with this is to wait it out: “Once the young fledge, they’ll settle down,” Audubon director Glenn Phillips said. Then you can have your precious park back, you pathetic ground-walkers.
