Ken Thompson, the favorite to become the new Brooklyn district attorney after a quarter-century of Charles Hynes, wants to stop prosecuting low-level marijuana arrests (under fifteen grams) if elected, while Governor Cuomo’s plan to do the same statewide languishes in the state senate. “These arrests are clogging the criminal-justice system,” says Thompson. The borough currently leads the country in marijuana arrests, which is so not cool.
