What outgoing Texas First Lady Anita Perry said, exactly, about abortion to a reporter over the weekend is, “I see it as a woman’s right. If they want to do that, that is their decision. They have to live with that decision.” Asked to clarify, she repeated, “I mean, I think that yeah, that could be a woman’s right. Just like it’s a man’s right if he wants to have some kind of procedure. But I don’t agree with it and it’s not my view.”
Governor Rick Perry, however, assured everyone today that she just got her words mixed up — repeatedly. “From time to time we’ll stick the wrong word in the wrong place, and you pounce upon it,” he told reporters (granted, from experience). Mrs. Perry could apparently not be counted on to stick the right words in the right place herself, because she has not commented on the issue since.
