For the past few days, Sarah Palin has been one of many high-profile conservative defenders of Phil Robertson, the Duck Dynasty star who was suspended from his show after comparing gay people to terrorists in a GQ profile and insisting that they should prefer vagina over anus because they just should. Palin lent her support to Robertson, in front of millions of people, after carefully considering his remarks:
>When pressed by Fox News host Greta Van Susteren whether the language Robertson used when talking about his opposition to homosexuality was graphic and offensive, Palin admitted she didn’t know what Robertson had said.
“I haven’t read the article. I don’t know exactly how he said it,” Palin said Monday on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”
Or not. It’s surprising that Palin didn’t even look at the quotes in question, not only because she’s, you know, defending them on national television, but because we were under the impression that Palin was an avid reader of all of the media.
Unless Palin herself is insulted, in which case he should be summarily fired.
