The somehow believable Chinese report that said the North Korean dictator had his family member eaten alive almost definitely started as satire before going international, it turns out. So when the official statement on the execution, which really happened, referred to the victim as “despicable human scum Jang, who was worse than a dog,” it was not some twisted inside joke by the brutal authoritarian government. Phew.
