Despite claims by the defense that jurors would be “most prejudiced” in Boston, a judge has denied accused marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev a change of venue, because everyone knows about him everywhere. “It is doubtful whether a jury could be selected anywhere in the country whose members were wholly unaware of the marathon bombings,” wrote Judge George A. O’Toole Jr. in his decision. “The Constitution does not oblige them to be.” He did push back the trial two months to January 5 instead of November 3. A pool of 2,000 potential jurors will be whittled down with “extensive questionnaires” about their ability to remain impartial as Tsarnaev faces the death penalty in federal court.
