Fox Loses World Series Feed in Middle of Game 1

The World Series, eager to catch up to the Super Bowl, just earned its spot in the annals of historic technical glitches. At about 9:20 p.m. ET, rather than returning from commercial break, viewers of Game 1 between the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals were greeted by this error message:

The Fox anchors explained that they’d lost power to the network’s broadcast truck. Both teams lost access to their replay rooms, and gameplay was stopped, with one out in the bottom of the fourth innning. Less than a minute later, the MLB international feed was back (with a Fox logo slapped in the top right corner). MLB on Fox reporter Ken Rosenthal said the teams had limited replay ability:

Fox Sports has released a statement apologizing for the incident:

The score is now 4-3 Mets in the bottom of the eighth, and the feed is working — for now, at least.
