The latest sign that the Trump campaign is in serious disarray: It took them five whole days to figure out how the feud between Donald Trump and a Gold Star family is actually President Obama’s fault. And their explanation involves a time machine.
Tuesday on CNN, Wolf Blitzer pressed Trump spokesperson Katrina Pierson on whether the the candidate has apologized to the parents of U.S. Army Captain Humayun Khan. After Blitzer asked the same question for a fourth time, Pierson asked what exactly Trump was supposed to be apologizing for.
Blitzer recapped the insane feud that’s unfolded over the past few days, and Pierson countered that Trump was just confused about why he was being held responsible for Captain Khan’s death (which no one ever suggested). “But surely you can understand the confusion, considering how Donald Trump never voted for the Iraq War, Hillary Clinton did,” Pierson said. “Then she didn’t support the troops to have what they need. It was under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that changed the rules of engagement that probably cost his life! So I don’t understand why it’s so hard to understand why Donald Trump was confused.”
Blitzer thanked Pierson and ended the interview. Then a few minutes later he issued a “fact check,” noting that Captain Khan died in 2004, during the George W. Bush administration:
Still, how can we blame Trump for the lawlessness of Illinois State Senator Obama’s America?
