Let us be clear: We don't mean to read anything into this, for it took place during a meaningless off-day simulated game. But A.J. Burnett's first pitch this afternoon in said simulated game reportedly soared past Francisco Cervelli all the way to the backstop, then, five pitches later, he appeared to have hit Greg Golson in the hand. (The apparent highlight of the simulated game thus far: The between-inning entertainment on the Yankee Stadium video board was a clip of Mick Kelleher getting hit in the crotch from the other night.) Again, nothing to read into here, but when you have five full off-days between real games, action from the simulated ones is all we have.
