John Seigenthaler serves as weekday anchor and correspondent for MSNBC. Seigenthaler also serves as a news anchor for the weekend edition of “NBC Nightly News.”
Since joining NBC News, Seigenthaler has anchored the network’s special coverage, “Investigating the President,” from Washington, DC; “Nightmare in Paducah,” the Heath High School Shootings in Paducah, KY; and the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics.
Before joining NBC, Seigenthaler co-anchored the nightly news for WKRN-TV, Nashville. Prior to that, he anchored the weekend evening news for Seattle’s KOMO-TV. From 1981 to 1990, Seigenthaler reported and produced for WSMV-TV, Nashville’s NBC affiliate, as well as hosted “Saturday Night with John Seigenthaler,” a weekly public affairs program.
Seigenthaler began his television news career as a writer and producer at WKRN-TV, Nashville. Seigenthaler has won several prestigious national journalism awards, including the Robert F. Kennedy Television News Award, the National Headliner Award, an American Bar Association Award, and Iris Award and two Emmy Awards.
Seigenthaler is a graduate of Duke University where he received a bachelor of science degree in public policy.
