1. De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) 8-0 (1)
Defensive coordinator Terry Eidsons unit posted its fifth shutout of the season as the Spartans extended their national win streak record to 146 with a 47-0 win over Deer Valley of Antioch. The first string defense enters this weeks game against 7-0-1 Pittsburg having given up just three TDs on the year overall. Junior Eduardo Lopez led the offense against Deer Valley with six carries for 86 yards and three TDs.
2. Warren Harding (Warren, Ohio) 11-0 (2)
The Raiders vaulted to an early cushion and ousted Solon, 49-7, in the first round of the state Division I playoffs. Harding outgained Solon, 500-210, in yards including a 341-95 edge on the ground. Harding advances to face Lakewood St. Edward in a season rematch. Harding outlasted St. Edward, 27-20, earlier in overtime.
3. Palm Bay (Melbourne, Fla.) 9-0 (3)
Dwight Silgar rushed 26 times for 198 yards and one touchdown as the Pirates downed Eau Gallie, 28-7. Xavier Carter landed four passes for 84 yards and a score. Palm Bay ends regular season Friday vs. Merritt Island.
4. Carroll (Southlake, Texas) 9-0 (4)
Quarterback Chase Daniel completed 10 of 13 passes for 253 yards and five touchdowns -- all in the first half -- as Carroll dominated The Colony, 52-13, after leading 45-0 at halftime. McKay Jacobson landed seven passes for 194 yards and four scores. Carroll, on a 25-game win streak, ends regular season this week against Coppell.
5. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) 7-0 (5)
There's no question about New Jersey's No. 1 team. For the second time, Don Bosco Prep routed the unbeaten No. 2 ranked team. Last weekend, the victim was Montvale St. Joseph by 63-17. Brian Toal led the way with 192 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Don Bosco ends regular season play Friday vs. Paramus.
6. North Penn (Lansdale, Pa.) 10-0 (6)
North Penn completed a perfect season with a 41-7 thrashing of Central Bucks West, its third straight win over the former state and national power. No team has held North Penn to less than 35 points this season. North Penn opens post-season play this week.
7. Union (Tulsa, Okla.) 9-0 (7)
The defending state Class 6A champion extended its victory streak to 23 games with a 41-6 victory over Sapulpa.
8. Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) 11-0 (8)
The Patriots closed the regular season with their 57th straight victory - - a 46-0 shutout of Charlotte Vance. Junior quarterback Joe Cox completed 16 of 17 passes for 271 yards and five scores.
9. Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, Calif.) 8-0 (9)
Many thought the Diablos would get a stiff challenge in their league matchup vs. San Clemente (No. 14 in Southern California), but it was instead perhaps their most impressive win of the season. Mission Viejos 49-7 romp upped the current win streak to 36 games. A 10-0 regular season seems just about assured.
10. Mentor (Mentor, Ohio) 11-0 (10)
The Cardinals opened post-season state Division I playoffs with a 24-0 blanking of Lakewood. It was the second season win over Lakewood including a 50- decision in September. Mentor advances to play Cleveland St. Ignatius (9-2) this weekend.
