Teams in the Midwest have already shaken up the rankings as Warren Central of Indiana, Providence Catholic of Illinois and Mentor of Ohio have started the season impressively.

Evangel opens Sept. 12 vs. Suwannee of Live Oak, Fla.

3. Warren Harding (Warren, Ohio) 2-0 (4)

Ohio's No. 1 ranked team has routed two Cleveland teams--JFK by 61-6 and South by 69-0 in the opener.

4. Lufkin (Lufkin, Texas) 1-0 (3)

Lufkin opened with an impressive 34-14 win over state-ranked Katy after leading 28-0 early in the second quarter.

5. Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos, Calif.) 0-0 (5)

The top-ranked Southern California team opens Friday vs. Culver City.

6. Palm Bay (Melbourne, Fla.) 0-0 (7)

The Pirates debut Friday vs. Satellite. In a pre-season Kickoff Classic last week, Palm Bay downed state-ranked Rockledge, 6-0.

7. Warren Central (Indianapolis, Ind.) 2-0 (10)

The Warriors rushed for 500 yards and dominated defending Ohio Division I champion Cincinnati Elder, 45-20, in the Ryle (Ky.) Festival. Warren Central tackles two-time defending Indiana Class 4A champion Indianapolis Ben Davis this week.

8. Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) 1-0 (13)

The Panthers debuted with a 21-3 victory over Dacula in the Corky Kell Kickoff Classic at the Georgia Dome and extended state record win streak to 46. Parkview is idle until Sept. 12 showdown against FAB 50 ranked Brookwood.

9. Carroll (Southlake, Texas) 0-0 (9)

The defending state Class 5A-II champions open Friday vs. Irving.

10. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) 0-0 (11)

New Jersey's No. 1 ranked team debuts Sept. 12 vs. Ridgewood.

11. Lincoln (Tallahassee, Fla.) 0-0 (12)

The Trojans open on Thursday vs. Pensacola.

12. North Penn (Lansdale, Pa.) 1-0 (23)

Five Knights scored as the state's No. 1 ranked Class 4A team opened with a 35-7 win over Springfield Cardinal O'Hara.

13. St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Oh.) 2-0 (24)

The Wildcats routed Boardman, 51-13, last week after exploding for 28 second quarter points.

14. Rockhurst (Kansas City, Mo.) 0-0 (14)

The defending state Class 6 titlist opens Friday vs. rival Blue Springs South.

15. Mountain View (Mesa, Ariz.) 0-0 (15)

The Toros should be tested in this week's season opener vs. state Class 5A No. 2 Hamilton of Chandler.

16. Hoover (Hoover, Ala.) 1-0 (16)

The defending state Class 6A champion debuted with 24-14 win over Montgomery Robert E. Lee as quarterback John Parker Wilson passed for 224 yards and two TDs.

17. Hart (Newhall, Calif.) 0-0 (17)

The Indians open Sept. 12 vs. FAB 50 No. 5 Los Alamitos.

18. Richmond County (Rockingham, N.C.) 2-0 (18)

The Raiders extended their consecutive game scoring streak to 100 games with a 36-13 win over Raleigh Millbrook. Richmond County has a record of 149-22 since 1990.

19. Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, Calif.) 0-0 (22)

The Diablos take a 28-game win streak into the season opener Sept. 12 vs. Fountain Valley.

20. The Woodlands (The Woodlands, Texas) 1-0 (20)

The Highlanders opened with a 35-20 victory over Bryan in the Texas Classic event at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

21. Union (Tulsa, Okla.) 0-0 (21)

The defending state Class 6A champion debuts Thursday against FAB 50 No. 50 Broken Arrow.

22. St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia, Pa.) 1-0 (31)

The Prep debuted with a 40-6 rout of Bethlehem Catholic and hiked state-best win streak to 24 games.

23. Providence Catholic (New Lenox, Ill.) 1-0 (44)

The state's top-ranked team, and defending Class 5A champion, opened with a 68-0 rout of Fenger.

24. Detroit Catholic Central (Redford, Mich.) 1-0 (35)

The defending state Division I champion opened with a 41-6 victory over Detroit Denby.

25. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) 0-0 (25)

The Monarchs' opener is Sept. 12 but the second game is against FAB 50 No. 21 Mission Viejo.

26. Lockport, Ill. 1-0 (26)

The defending state Class 8A titlist opened with a 31-0 blanking of Moline.

27. Edgewater (Orlando, Fla.) 0-0 (27)

Edgewater opens Friday versus Cypress Creek.

28. Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) 0-0 (28)

Poly opens on Sept. 12 vs. Mayfair.

29. Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville, Tenn.) 2-0 (nr)

After opening with a 17-14 win over two-time defending Kentucky Class 4A champion and FAB 50 ranked Louisville Trinity, MBA blanked LaVergne, 29-0, last weekend.

30. Millard North (Omaha, Neb.) 0-0 (30)

North debuts Thursday against Bellevue West.

31. Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, Tenn.) 2-0 (29)

The Eagles overpowered Oakland by 50-20 last weekend.

Coming off an unbeaten regular season, North Shore kicks off season this weekend.

Conquerors start Friday against Riverside of Auburn.

The Broncos debuted with a 30-0 blanking of Starr's Mill in the Corky Kell Kickoff Classic at the Georgia Dome.

35. Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) 2-0 (nr)

The Patriots extended their state record win streak to 48 games with a 48-13 win over East Mecklenburg as quarterback Joe Cox tossed four TD passes.

36. Columbine (Littleton, Colo.) 2-0 (40)

The defending state Class 5A champion is off to 2-0 start including 46-7 rout of Northglenn last week in ESPN High School Showcase Game of the Week.

37. Edison (Miami, Fla.) 0-0 (36)

Edison kicks off season this weekend.

38. Chaparral (Scottsdale, Az.) 1-0 (37)

The defending state Class 4A champion debuted with 56-14 win over Phoenix Shadow Mountain as quarterback Darren Mougey teamed up with wide receiver John Peel on three TD passes. Chaparral led 42-7 at halftime.

39. Arrowhead (Hartland, Wis.) 1-0 (38)

Arrowhead debuted with a 36-0 shutout of Wallace from Gary, Ind.

40. Woodland Hills (Pittsburgh, Pa.) 1-0 (nr)

The Wolverines opened with a 31-0 blanking of Pittsburgh Shaler.

41. Phoebus (Hampton, Va.) 0-0 (41)

The defending state Division 5 champion debuts Friday against Norcom.

42. East Grand Rapids, Mich. 1-0 (42)

The defending state Division 3 champion opened with a 41-0 blanking of Ottawa Hills.

43. Mentor (Mentor, Ohio) 2-0 (nr)

Mentor is off to an impressive start and could challenge St. Ignatius to Cleveland area bragging rights. Mentor opened with a 36-8 win over Cleveland Glenville and downed Canton Glen Oak, 37-7 last weekend.

44. Wayne County (Waynesboro, Miss.) 1-0 (45)

Mississippi's No. 1 ranked team opened with a 13-0 blanking of Columbus.

45. Summerville, S.C. 1-0 (46)

The top-rated South Carolina team opened with a 35-20 win over Berkeley as Corey Smalls ran for 126 yards and three TDs. The nation's all-time winningest coach, John McKissick, will seek win No. 500 this weekend vs. James Island.

46. Carmel (Mundelein, Ill.) 1-0 (nr)

Carmel debuted with a 35-10 victory over Marist.

47. Mullen (Denver, Colo.) 1-0 (47)

Maurice Greer rushed 19 times for 279 yards and four TDs as Mullen opened with 35-21 win over Bear Creek.

48. Tyler Lee (Tyler, Tx.) 0-0 (48)

Lee opens schedule this weekend.

49. Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) 0-0 (49)

The Purple Eagles are coming off a 10-0 season and open Saturday afternoon at D.C. rival St. Albans.

Broken Arrow debuts Thursday vs. FAB 50 No. 20 Tulsa Union in a rematch of last season's state Class 6A finals.
