Grand Rapids Mayor-elect, George Heartwell, is home from the hospital.

The mayor-elect will spend the next four weeks recovering after undergoing prostate surgery this week. Doctors say his prognosis is excellent.

A Heartwell spokesperson says he'll rest up for the next three or four weeks, just in time to take the oath of office. Doctors discovered Heartwell's prostate cancer in October after routine blood work.

Former Lieutenant Governor Dick Posthumus will replace Mayor-elect George Heartwell in Saturday's holiday parade in Grand Rapids.
