Demonstrations continued in front of the Supreme Court and on social media on Wednesday as people expressed their opinion on how the Justices should decide these two cases/
The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday heard oral arguments challenging the Defense of Marriage Act. While only section three of DOMA is up for debate, a decision could affect more than 1,100 federal benefits: social security benefits, federal estate and income taxes as well as medical and family leave. On Tuesday the high court heard oral arguments in a challenge to California same-sex marriage ban known as Prop 8. While a decision is not expected on either Prop 8 or DOMA until the summer, Pete Williams reported that there appeared to be at least five votes to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act.
While the High Court heard arguments about DOMA, social media swirled with activity, and demonstrations also continued in front of the Supreme Court. Images from a historic week in Washington:Click to view slideshow.
