Tonight’s boldfaced parties:
• American Museum of Natural History gala. Central Park West nr. 79th St., 7 p.m. Featuring a performance by Paul Simon in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life. Guests to include Steve Martin, Mariah Carey, Rupert Murdoch, Caroline Kennedy, Alec Baldwin, Tom Brokaw, Tom Freston, David Koch, Lorne Michaels, Steve Brill, Helen Gurley Brown, Susan Lyne, Lesley Stahl and the entire cast of Saturday Night Live. In short, a concert for tuxedo-clad celebrities and billionaires in the aquatic wing of an epically cavernous museum. The New York gala scene is so trippy!
• CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award. Skylight Studios, 275 Hudson St. nr. Dominick St., 7 p.m. Penelope Cruz, Hugh Jackman, Ron Perleman, Harvey Weinstein, and a bajillion brand-name designers are slated to be there; Harvey Weinstein and Ron Perleman are slated to perv on Penelope Cruz about 30 or 40 times each.
• Party Confidential book launch. Rory and Elie Tahari’s apartment, 9 p.m. Chris Cuomo, Chris Heinz, Damon Dash, and Ron Howard are scheduled guests. Lara Shriftman and Elizabeth Harrison are P.R.-bash pros and Party Confidential is being sold as an expert’s guide on how to get your high-class groove going right. But will the average buyer of this book really be able to get RSVPs from the notorious roof-raising duo of Damon Dash and Ron Howard?
