Governor Paterson made his first-ever trip to Baghdad yesterday, accompanied by New York representatives Anthony Weiner and Steve Israel. More than 10,000 men and women from the state serve in Iraq and Kuwait, and the delegation went to deliver Christmas gifts and thanks. Paterson was “overwhelmed” by the appreciation he received just for showing up. “The least we can do is come over and bring them some gifts and tell them how much the American people, in particular New Yorkers, are behind them,” he said. “They treat the three of us as if we’ve done something extraordinary by coming over to visit them!” Hey, Pattycakes — don’t sell yourself short.
