This morning an American Airlines flight bound for Chicago from LaGuardia was forced to land at JFK after experiencing engine trouble. Nobody was injured on the plane or on the ground in Flushing, where metal shrapnel, possibly from the engine, landed on a roof and car. While it would be irresponsible and premature to speculate on what caused the engine failure, it was probably birds. [City Room/NYT]
