Last night, ABC News aired video of Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan torturing a man using “whips, electric cattle prods and wooden planks with protruding nails.” Issa, who has not been punished, is the brother of Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed, the principal backer of NYU’s new campus there. Though the university has released a statement condemning the actions, student blogs are already sparking debate over whether the university should have expected this kind of mess, and whether this will continue to happen.
