Vermont Overrides Governor’s Same-Sex-Marriage Veto

This morning, Governor Jim Douglas of Vermont vetoed a bill guaranteeing marriage rights to same-sex couples that had passed through both houses of the state legislature. Shortly afterward, the legislature overrode the veto, making Vermont the fourth state nationally to currently legalize marriage equality (Iowa became the third last week), and the first to do so through the legislative process.
