When we first reported that Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon had lost money to Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme, we were somewhat startled by the outpouring of emotion in the comments section. “Something about this makes me really, really sad,” said commenter RebeccaRose, who is not known for her empathy. “I guess it’s just seeing two seemingly decent, really nice people, who worked hard and earned an honest living have it all taken away from them.” But rest assured. Kevin and Kyra are going to be okay.
Sedgwick told the AP yesterday:
“It’s been really unpleasant and makes you feel really vulnerable. But the fact of the matter is that we did not lose everything,” she said. “We lost hard-earned money that we worked very hard for that was what we thought in a safe place. It’s painful but a lot of people lost a lot more. And we have a lot of things to be grateful for in our life, and we never ever forget that.”
In other good news, she added that Chace Crawford was “adorable” and that she was pleased he was taking over the Kevin Bacon role in the remake of Footloose, but she hopes he knows he has some “big shoes to fill.” Seriously. We’ve seen that scene in Wild Things.
