Sarah Palin was on the Today show this morning talking with Matt Lauer about oil pipelines or some such, and then, grudgingly, her profile-boosting feud with David Letterman. Lauer asked Palin whether a statement she put out yesterday “The Palins have no intention of providing a rating’s boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show. Plus, it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman” meant that Letterman couldn’t be trusted with a 14-year-old girl. And Palin told him to “interpret that however you want to.” Well, the obvious interpretation would be that comedian David Letterman, because he made a tasteless joke one which, we admit, could reasonably have been interpreted as referring to Willow, not Bristol is now a potential child rapist. By the way, we imagine Willow might appreciate it if everyone, her mom included, would stop discussing this on national TV.
