summer in the city

Move Aside, Hotlanta. In 2050, It’ll Be All About Hot Yorka

Okay, that’s maybe not quite right. But we have 40 years to work on the name. The point is, get used to the pants-meltingly hot weather, because New York summers are only going to get hotter, according to estimates from Climate Central:

In the 2050s, New York will likely have an average of 12 days every August when temperatures exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius); four days hotter than 95 degrees and one day in excess of 100 degrees, the group said. That compares to the 1980s and ‘90s when New York logged four, one and zero days at those temperatures and Atlanta had 11, two and zero days.

The cons of this are, of course, global warming and higher air-conditioning bills. But the pros? More beach days and booty rap. Unfortunately, we will all be too old to enjoy it. See you in the frozen-soft-foods section.
