Drama returned to the trial of Hiram Monserrate yesterday as prosecutors forced Karla Giraldo, the glass-wounded girlfriend who now says this is all a big misunderstanding, to take the stand. Under questioning, Giraldo contradicted a claim she had previously made to a grand jury that she had only had two glasses of wine and wasn’t drunk the night of the “incident.” Now, on the stand, Giraldo insisted that she had, in fact, been drunk.
