America Shakes Its Head at Samuel Alito

A new poll shows that, by a wide margin, and with unity across ideological lines you rarely see anymore unless the question is “Aren’t baby ducks adorable?,” Americans don’t approve of the recent Supreme Court decision that opened the metaphorical floodgates to unfettered corporate spending in political campaigns. This is good news for Democrats, who are currently crafting legislation to temper the scope of the opinion, and, not having done anything popular in about a year, could really use a good pick-me-up. But it’s bad news for Republicans, who are compelled by some powerful, mysterious force to steadfastly oppose the Democrats on every single initiative, and can’t help but do so again with this one, despite its popularity.
