Toyota president and CEO Akio Toyoda took full responsibility for the safety issues that have plagued the company’s cars in his appearance on Larry King Live tonight, his first interview after testifying in Washington on Wednesday. After some questions as to whether the cars are fully safe now after the repairs made in a mass recall of over 8 million vehicles worldwide (more than 6 million in the U.S.) since last fall, Toyoda told King tonight that they are. Well, at least for now.
“There is no problem…. I cannot say that it is safe forever going forward, so we are working together with the dealership and also trying to increase the dialogue with the customers so that the customers can enjoy our vehicles in [a] much more safer manner and they could really enjoy it for a longer period of time.”
