In his best sense of Christian charity, Orange County pastor Wiley Drake sent out an e-mail to his congregation this morning, urging them to add the 219 Democrats who voted for health-care reform to the list of people they pray to be cursed. “We’ll remember in November and pray Psalms 109 while waiting,” he wrote. Psalms 109 includes, among many other fates you wouldn’t want, the following phrases: “Let his days be few, and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow,” and “Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.” We suppose the unspoken bit about hoping the Democrats die is the worst of those threats, but having their “posterity be cut off” doesn’t have much of a ring to it, either.
