Scott Brown sent an e-mail to supporters today warning them about competition from proven political juggernaut … Rachel Maddow?! Apparently in response to a recent post written on an obscure Boston-based blog, the Massachusetts senator claimed in the message that the MSNBC anchor could be taking him on in 2012.
“Before I’ve even settled into my new job, the political machine in Massachusetts is looking for someone to run against me,” he wrote. “And you’re not going to believe who they are supposedly trying to recruit - liberal MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow.”
Ever the charmer, Brown conceded that he doesn’t have a problem with Maddow herself, just her agenda, writing “I’m sure she’s a nice person — I just don’t think America can afford her liberal policies.”
Since this seems to indicate Brown will legitimize pretty much any rumor with a response, why not have some fun with it? Everyone start a wild rumor about a potential Brown opponent (Jon Stewart? Ben Affleck? Snooki?) and we’ll see what we get.
