Look at this man, holding his sign that he put so much thought and care into for a tea-party rally on Tax Day a few weeks ago. He hates taxes so much! Joining him were equally angry folks carrying signs with slogans like “This Country Began As a Tax Revolt” and “Taxed Enough Already.” Such sentiments should come as no surprise coming from adherents of a movement named after America’s most famous tax protest, obviously. But an analysis by USA Today finds that Americans are, on average, paying taxes at a lower rate than at any time since 1950. And a significant factor is the hundreds of billions in tax cuts included in last year’s stimulus package. The tea partiers, however, think that taxes have gone up under Obama. Shhh, don’t tell them. They’re having so much fun.
