This was the scene outside the Apple Store in the meatpacking district about an hour ago. An Apple staffer, with a very large drip of sweat dangling from his nose, told New York they’ve been lending out golf umbrellas for free to customers boiling under the sun in the 95-degree heat. Those umbrellas will also come in handy when the sky inevitably explodes into thunderstorms later this afternoon. And yes, Apple knows you will stay in line when that happens.
