For years, Chinese adolescents obeying their smut-seeking hormones were taunted by a tough-to-crack governmental firewall. But then! Eight weeks ago, a brave and glorious world of free amateur porn was exposed. The Chinese government has not made an official statement, so it’s still unclear if the unblocking of porn sites is a glitch or a new policy.
One Beijing-based Internet analyst speculated: “Maybe they are thinking that if Internet users have some porn to look at, then they won’t pay so much attention to political matters.” That tactic seems to work fairly well in America.
