Shark sightings temporarily closed Rockaway Beach in Queens this weekend, two days in a row. “It swam right under my buddy’s board as he was paddling out, and some surfers paddled away around the jetty,” said Alex Karinsky, 46, of Rockaway. Some beachgoers claim there were actually three baby great whites circling around yesterday, ordering people out of the water for about an hour, and a separate shark sighting temporarily closed the beach on Friday too. Nobody was hurt, at all, and the beach is up and running again today. But, still, sharks! [NYP, City Room/NYT]
