Derek Felton, an eleven-year employee of New Jersey Transit, was fired from his job Monday after he burned pages from a Koran near the proposed site of the Islamic community center and mosque near ground zero on September 11. Felton was photographed burning the Koran during an anti-mosque protest. “Mr. Fenton’s public actions violated New Jersey Transit’s code of ethics,” the agency said in a statement, “NJ Transit concluded that Mr. Fenton violated his trust as a state employee and therefore was dismissed.” [NYDN]
